wife was fired due to degree verification....PRIVACY ACT
We just found out the my wife's unemployment claim was declined because boss said that she did not receive a verification from the school she attended. Wife was very furstrated and called the school record's office (she's sure that she attended the school and earned her credits) and was told the this is illegal practice for employer to call and verify the courses and credits that she earned (wife was never notified by the previous employer that they were to call the school to verify her units and classes that she took until the date she was fired so basically the company was doing all the verification without her permission (the school was able to verify her attendence, just not the classes she took). we'd like to know if there's any legal actions we can take toward the company she worked for.

Seems like you should speak to a lawyer. This story sounds to familiar.......................
