We put our new tree inside the house and put the old one up outside on the porch with some lights on it.. It looked lovely and chrissmassy without being gaudy. Not too over the top at all.

I'm not one for many lights.

I got the kids to do mine - and all I had to say was "You can clean your room or decorate the tree" - much cheaper than hiring and interior designer !
