Yes, that can be a problem. Carlos speaks English just about as well as I do, so it isn't an issue when he's around.
When he just leaves a crew though, there is often a lot of pantomime going on. And my few (very few) words of Spanish.
The one fellow though has been here a year now, and I was just complimenting him on how his English has improved.

wish i could take him back to the uk when we return but sadly he has his usc wife and two gorgeous teenage daughters to keep him here.

Lived in TX for three years and would say that Mexicans were looked down on - but never experienced any out and out racism.
There is a huge latino population near us in Westchester and I would say the attitude is exactly the same here if not worse!

He loves his job and he loves me so that means he has job satisfaction.
I have a question though: Why do you all need yard men? Don't any of you get out and do it yourself?
I like to work in my yard and see the results of my hard work. It's a great stress reliever and OH is lost if there is nothing need doing outside...he usually starts a new project then.

i always have rewarded any hired hands with an annual salary increment. i treat peeps as i like to be treated and i always had an annual raise when i worked.
