He did indeed win the election. Five votes to four.

That's quite restrained. I'd go so far as to say voting for a Republican party led by absolutely anyone is dangerous for the whole world!

It is unusual in the United States but not too unusual in Britain. The MPs of the governing party have been known to ditch the PM and promote another. They do resign the position as gracefully as they can to avoid a vote of "No Confidence".

then you didn't read my post properly, did you?

I'm saying if you think that only happens in Britain, then think again.

Default Results & Follow-up: Why do so many European born USC vote for the Democrats?

Thank again for all your replies.

I am genuinely curious on the motivation on the part of European born USC to vote for the Democrats, since I assumed that many immigrated to the US for political reasons (like I did).

Based on all the replies it seems that many Europeans immigrated to the US for non-political reasons (spouse, job, etc.) and just keep on having the same political leanings they had in their country of origin. That makes sense to me.

But I haven’t really heard from anyone who left Europe for political reasons AND votes for the Democrats. If that is you, I am really interested in your reasoning. If you like national healthcare, government regulation of the free market, etc., and doesn’t mind paying high taxes, why did you leave Europe. It is all there. It is a sincere question.

Again my questions is for European born USC who left Europe for political reasons AND vote for the Democrats.

That was my point. She's trying to say how funny it is that Americans don't know what's going on in international politics and yet neither does she.
