Who's Working over X-mas?

So all this talk over what's a better x-mas, and all the hols etc...

who's working over x-mas?

Around here, the bloke who shares my office is taking Friday and Tuesday off, he's working the rest of the time, and one of the Texans, as he took a week off last week to fly home and see friends and family before the hols...as far as I know, those are the only two who will be here during the week.

I took my last day off in mid-November. I get a huge amount of work done between xmas and new year, as no-one's around to bother me. :D

However, hubby has that week off (without pay - plant shutdown, sods!) so he'll be driving me crazy all week instead. Huzzah! :D

No work for us-hubby works today and then is off until the 2nd. I'm only part-time but will do a few hours next week (but I work from home, so that's ok).

Both our our companies give the next 2 Fridays and Mondays as paid days off, and then allow employees to use holiday time/PTO to take off whatever else they want (same as my UK company did, although we didn't get NY Eve off there).

There are several at my place who will work next week-they say they like the quiet (and probably hiding from in-laws or similar).

I've got Xmas day and Boxing day off. In the rest of the time including New Years day.

Woo Hoo.

I get Xmas Day ....lucky me ....

Mind you Boxing Day without the sport/pubs/fights of good old Blighty just won't be the same ...so I suppose I might as well go to work ...

I'm working Christmas Eve in my local - woohoo for the tips! :D

My real job we get out at 1pm tomorrow, and don't go back until Tuesday. My boss is out the entire week next week, which means I'll actually get some work done instead of listening to her moan all week (several members of senior management are actually questioning what she does all day).

Can't wait for 2pm tomorrow - I'll have finished my first glass of wine by then!

Oh....that's so sad! :(

How on Earth can anyone do that? How do they justify it? I know that some elderly people are very trying/demanding/incontinent but surely the whole point of Christmas is to get together with family?

Do you work in some kind of private nursing home/care facility as opposed to a hospital, or do you work on a geriatric ward?

Who pays for it - the family dumping granny or their insurance company?

She's still in the UK so I suppose it's the taxpayers. :)

I'm a TEACHER and I am working over Christmas (with the exception of Christmas Day)! Grrrr....This is because I am a State of California teacher, that is, I work for the State, not the usual school districts like LA Unified. State employees are required to work every day but state holidays and (slowly accumulated) vacation days. So I do not have any Winter break, Spring break, Summer break...which leaves all of the teachers in my school saying, "Give me a break!" The kids get a break but the teachers are put working on other jobs, like office work or teaching the adults (in the hospital where I work), tutoring etc. :(

Those 2 holiday days add up to more than one, thus the plural s in holidays

or

CD X NY = 2 H
