I did - been a citizen just over 3 months. One 'o them much talked about "new voters registering as Democrats" in Florida.

It's actually the first election I've ever voted in - never voted in a UK election.

Excellent! I'm glad to hear it, and I was glad to see that it went smoothly for you at the polling station.

I voted for the first time ever too, i never got chance to vote in a UK general election. I only recently got my USC status and was happy that my voter registration card came through just in time.

Now i just have to hope that i made the right choice ...

First time voting for me in the US. I voted in the UK general election in 1997, and some local/European elections before that.

Thanks for doing your part. Don't worry too much about your choice, you can change it in four years.

I voted in a US election for the first time too - after getting citizenship in June. The CA ballots had so many propositions on them it was like taking an exam just figuring out which ones to support - makes you wonder what percentage of people actually understand all the issues they vote on.

I voted for the first time here, but had voted several times in the UK. The propositions we had to vote for here were worded very ambiguously. You couldn't really tell which way you were voting. Maybe that's deliberate, but I wish they would word them more straightforwardly.

Cool, thank you for voting! And those propositions aren't written to be understood, they are written in a manner which insures that they can't be argued on legal or constitutional grounds.

Plus, if you can't understand or just don't care either way on some of the propositions, you are not forced to answer them all - the votes that you do make will still be counted.

Me, me, me, me. I voted for the first time yesterday...so did my husband and daughter. It was quite painless and very quick. The council even mailed a life size copy of the electronic ballot. I noticed a couple of elderly people had brought it with them already filled in...which was a good idea because then they only had to copy it.

Me too! I became a USC in Aug. I've always voted in the UK and missed having the opportunity to have my say! Also very quick and painless.

Exclamation Re: Who voted for the first time?

This was my first time voting in a Presidential election and I'm still waiting for the counting to finish and for Obama to be declared the winner in North Carolina. The New York Times shows each candidate getting 50% of the votes...:curse:
