I am just curious, to see who here does/would tip a casino dealer?

Of course its not obligatory, but in Florida at least, we are paid well below the minimum wage, less than waitresses in fact.

In England, we would be fired for receiving tips, so I just wondered how the tipping culture has came into your life since you moved here from the UK.

In casino's, yes I tip dealers; I only found out after my first visit. After winning a good pot in a poker hand I always do it. Obviously I wouldn't if I wasn't winning.

In restaurants, I can't believe people tip so much. In the UK I would tip a bit, and more for good service; but people here tip well whatever.

20% tips?!?!? Bollox to that! Good (and i mean GOOD) service I give no more than 15%, usually nearer 10%. Ive also been know to walk out giving 0% when service is utter shite. My American colleagues always look on in horror when I tip so low, but no way im giving someone more than 10 bucks to bring some plates to my table.

As for casino's....never been to one so sorry

Being a Vegas Vet with well over 20 visits, I'd know who to tip and who not to.

I always throw the dealers a small chip on a win. What size chip depends on how much you're playing per hand. You could even place a bet for them. My wife will often do this while playing roulette. How much you do this really depends on the dealer. The dealer wants you to win, because if you win, he usually wins with the odd donation. I will also tip a dealer when I've been playing for awhile and decide to color up. Once I have my chips, I'll tip the dealer before I leave.

You can also tip the attendents while playing slots or video poker should they have to give you a hand pay for a sizable win. Once again, this depends on the size of the win. You win $1000 dollars, I'd think about tipping something like $10 to $50 depending on my mood and the speed in which I got my money.

Always tip the cocktail waitresses well. A good tip for the first freebie drink, will let them know you're the person they need to be walking by everytime your jack and coke needs a refill. :D

I once tipped a bloke in scarborough a chip but he just spat on my fish, the bastard.

Actually I have never been to a casino so what you are saying may as well be in Greek, but thanks for the heads up should I ever go to one.

Yes would tip in casino - normally place a bet for dealer at blackjack - but only when wining - always give the waitress a big tip on first round to make sure of frequent visits!!

Always tip at least 15% - service is so good over here compared to home. Its part of the culture/wages/pricing - never really questioned it - and its rare that service is bad - did leave zero once when they screwed up big time! It more of an insult to leave just a dollar apparently!!

I do. The tip, of course, depends on the win. 10 percent is the norm.

Nope the insult is to leave a penny. I waitressed for many years. Rarely got left only a penny.

Never been to a casino but would probably tip as I find you have to tip everyone here. Tipping in bars and restaurants was no big deal but I've struggled to tip for things like having my hair and nails done. Find it most annoying when in restaurants and bars that they add the tip on to the bill if you're English, do they think we are ignorant and won't cough up?

I tipped a penny on my one and only visit to the famed Carnegie Deli in NY. Service truly sucked (food was nothing special either). Servers were fawning over groups whilst they pretty much ignored me, a solo diner...

I always tip dealers, coz then they're more willing to help you out if you're a bit unsure of what you should be doing. Like anything though, if they're real arses you find a new table and don't tip shit!

My mate works at the casino here in town, and I know the dealers are on a great screw, earn more than me, great benefits / 401k.

I don't tip them.
