Default Who can certify documents?

Hi, does anyone know who can legally certify documents in the USA - or even more specifically, Ohio (presumably not overly different from the national list of acceptable people).

Many thanks.

HI - thanks for replying - but that's just one example of who can certify - i.e. notary public - surely there is a list of people who can certify documents - i.e. it's not JUST a notary public? I'm in Australia and rather hoping that a doctor can certify a document?

Lawyers I'm sure can - how about a pharmacist?

No, doctors and pharmacists cannot do it, unless they're registered as notary publics. People who can certify documents are called notary publics over here, and can be anyone who is registered as such.

Type in yellowpages.com, search for the town in Ohio you're looking for and you'll find the list of notary public's in that city.

depends, some places, usually town hall will have someone do it free for residence of the town, well around here at least...and otherwise, it can be cheap...but do shop around because it seems that the price can vary a fair bit...

Aha - that's worth noting thanks... Presumably I just look up 'Town Hall' Columbus then... Researching for a friend so no idea how things work over there - but I'm learning fast :-) Thanks for posting!

Banks around here usually have one and it's usually free for customers. I know my bank didn't charge me.
