Where to go
Fancy taking a trip, (I have been working too hard)
Now the question is, where to go. I have a shortlist of Boston, San Antonio & San Diego.
Has anyone been to these Cities and what would you recommend?

Re: Where to go
OK, so you have Boston, so you don't necessarily care about the sun. What time of year do you want to go?
If you must go to California, I think San Francisco is a more interesting city than San Diego. It's got a richer subculture.
You may not have thought about Seattle, but with that you can easily combine Vancouver BC, Victoria and even Portland, which are all great places. For what it's worth I think that's the best trip, especially if you go now and catch the tail end of summer.

Re: Where to go
I've been to all 3 and they've all got their good points. It's difficult to make travel recommendations if you don't know anything about the traveler - what kinds of things do you like to do? Can you tell us a bit about why these 3 made your shortlist?

I've been to Boston a few times...lovely place, but whenever we've been it's been raining.
Been to San Antonio several times (not too far from where we live) and I love it there..great vibe, restaurants and sunshine...like Tonrob said, it's hard to suggest somewhere when we all like different things (although I don't remember any sprouts on the menu )

When you thinking of going?
What do you like doing? Eating out? Museums etc?
San Antonio sounds like a great place to go.
Boston is pretty good, but personally think best in spring for a visit.

Re: Where to go
With all the natural wonders in the USA, the last place I'd want to go on vacation is to a city.

Re: Where to go
Not sure when I will be able to go unfortunately. That very much depends upon work and finances.
San Antonio appeals because it has some history and there is a Waxy O'Connors there. A couple of the lads from Waxy's in Fort Lauderdale are now based there so it would be fun to see them. There is also a Waxy's in Foxborough, so Boston has its appeal also.
Having said that I have a friend who leaves on the Bay in San Diego so that is very appealing.

It depends what you are looking for.
San Diego has some great eating out places, beaches, shopping and is great for kids.
San Francisco in my opinion is alot more expensive to eat out, it's cooler, has much better architecture and alot of great sightseeing. But there isn't as much to do with the kids in my opinion.
I don't know anything about Boston!

If Finances and work mean you end up going in the Fall, I would go to Boston, everyone says it is fabulous that time of year. San Antonio and San Diego are the same all year round.

Re: Where to go
It's not really, it's a bit shit...Spring is when the town shines, autumn, not that much greenery in Boston to make it count unless you go western mass like Northampton, which is beautiful, but if your going that far out, you might as well take a trek up through Maine, much prettier in autumn and also a lot cheaper.
