Where to buy electronics in Boston ??
Hi well we're on final count down ... we have less than 4 weeks now and thanks to your advice we've sourced a house ..... (leased !!) and have the Mass license guide to study !! and know where to go for furniture when we land ....
We are now after more advice on where to buy electronics ... mostly Tv's and a dvd (multi region) player./.....
There are so many types we're unsure what we need like HD blah blah blah ... over here we have 1 plasma and 2 LCD's all digital but only one HD as HD has only just started to come in over here .... any advice welcome
thanks
Georgia

Unless you go to a speciality store, you won't find a multi-region DVD player. You will find many models that can be easily modified, but arrangements with manufacturers and the big box retailers often keep these off the store shelves.
For most electronics you can go to Best Buy or Circuit City (the top 2) that exist in most cities. You can even order on amazon if you are certain of the exact model number you want (delivery is sometimes free).

1080p is something to watch for.
However, I think most Americans regard there TVs as a 5-10 year investment, meaning after that long they'll get another one so how much future can really change in 5-10 years?

Depending on where exactly your are - there's a huge Best Buy at the end of Newbury St - HOWEVER - Best Buy, Circuit City etc. seldom have the best prices and are basically robbing c#nts staffed by morons. In my most humblest of opinions.
For anything electrical I'll always shop online having read the reviews on Amazon, epinions etc. If you shop around properly online there's no reason you should be paying for shipping or even sales tax, and there are somtimes sales and rebates too meaning you can save $100s on big-ticket items vs. shopping in-store.
P.S. Welcome to MA!

When you heading over? and in Boston proper or the burbs?
If you come over by Aug 16th, that weekend is tax free weekend, so good time to get tele's etc, and go to the Wrentham outlet mall as you'll save a fortune, Sony store is pretty awesome.
For a dvd player, get what FB recommends and use a remote control hack to make it regionless.
