I had to add another reply after reading some of the other comments on your string. LOL! As you've probably figured out, don't listen to 99.9% of Brits that post negative comments on forums like this. I got out of the UK because the vast majority of people are so cynical about everything. This is America and anythings possible - I would add that its probably if you are British, a good person and willing to work. The US has treated me fantastic over the years and there will always be a ton of opportunities here. With regards to the visa, I just had dinner with a Brit last night that is getting an investors visa. As I understood it, if you are going to set up a company and invest at least 100k, it's easy to do... but talk to a lawyer to be sure.
Anyway, best of luck.

I'm sorry - this is hilarious... You are advising the OP not to listen to the collective expertise of a forum dedicated to people like him (British Expats and would-be British Expats) based upon a chat you had with someone over dinner last night. And you yourself have no relevant knowledge either, or you'd have added that!

Well thanks for the humorous replies folks, and in the case those of you who advised me to "do my research" well my original post did imply that this was in fact my first bit of research. When I posted a similar post in ex pats Dubai over four years ago I received similar scepticism which mostly proved to be wrong.
I'll continue with a trip soon, renew my PPL and fly around a bit asking the same questions face to face. If the answers are the same then I will have had a nice vacation and poured about $6000 into Floridas economy, then return to Dubai and plan my semi-retirement to Cyprus or Spain at the age of 45.
Come on now, there must be some positive people out here!

Make what happen? You seem to be missing the point that the OP wants to transfer the pensions of rich Brits who have made their pile elsewhere and are, at retirement age, upping sticks to the US, when the "retire to the US" visa doesn't exist and HI costs are astronomical. People are trying to explain that he is after a market that basically isn't out there.

My point was he's probably barking up the wrong tree. And given the stuff about negativity in the rest of this thread, my comments were based on actual experience, just to be clear.

I'm sorry but I have to say that is a very irresponsible thing to post. I have been through the investors route, got the visa , set up the company etc and it is anything but EASY TO DO.
