I want to go to the US to marry my girlfriend at the end of June 2002. When is the best time to start to make this possible. I'm from the UK and she is from Ohio if that makes any differance?
Thanks in advance
Rob

There is a lot of flexibility in the processing times. Once you have your K1 visa, you have 6 months to use it. Therefore, you probably want to have the visa interview early in 2002. The earlier you have the interview, the easier it will be for you to fix a wedding date and make plans.

I believe it takes about 2 months for the petition approval to come through, and the petition is then valid for 4 months.

To meet your timeline, you can file the petition sometime between July and September.

Just a heads up about the processing time,I went to the ins website to find out what service center you would need to use: nebraska.
the ins website is: http://www/ins.gov/

I would also check out the following site to see what the current processing times for nebraska, I would use the current times as an estimate to plan a head and then keep a close watch on them in order to get an idea on when you should apply. This site as current timelines for people:

You should allow about 7 months for the process from start to marriage.

See the sites below for detailed information on how to do it.
