Definitely do not do anything until you have your VISA in your little mitts! I made the mistake back in 2005 when our VISA (L1) had been approved and all we had to do was the Embassy interview - we had sold our house, leaving party arranged, much more stuff ready to leave and then the interview went bizarely weird and we ended up with an 8 week delay. No jobs, no house - thoroughly pissed off! You never know what is going to happen so I would definitely be sure to have your VISA stamped and ready to go before doing anything.
