When Does Christmas Officially Start For You?

What with Halloween and Thanksgiving we only get one month of xmas here.

In the UK it used to be when, propped up in a bar drinking lager black, I heard the first lines of Slade......(well that was in my younger days but the song still does it for me).

"are you hanging up your stocking on your wall
it's the time that every santa has a ball
does he ride a red nosed reindeer
does he turn up on his sleigh
do the farries keep him sober for a day

so here it is merry christmas
everybodies having fun
look to the future now
it's only just begun"

(Bet your singing it now!)

Now xmas dosen't start for me until the weekend after Thanksgiving.

What marks the start of the xmas season for you?

Christmas starts as soon as it turns into Christmas Day on 25th December. I know. Old fashioned.

I don't care for the retail madness, Christmas "music", etc.

Usually in the UK it would be when the decs go up - probably the second weekend - however here i struggle to wait until December - so the lights go up this weekend and that will be the official start!

We decorated our balcony outside last night, but thats it.
We will buy a tree {Real] next weekend, and then that will be the countdown. We have lots of family coming over for christmas and new year, so we are feeling very excited. Our son is bringing a christmas pudding, and I got some christmas crackers in Marshalls
New Year is being spent at Busch Gardens. There is a big concert and fireworks.I cant wait.

I have a nine month "sympathy" virgin pregnancy up to Christmas.

About 5 hours after the turkey indulgence I have a sympathy birth in the bathroom where I seem to say the baby Jesus' name quite a lot!

Our Christmas is far removed from the original, no virgins and absolutly wise men but the house does smell like a barn after my dad has used the lavatory!

Every Who
Down in Who-ville
Liked Christmas a lot...

But Ray,
Who lived just North of Who-ville,
Did NOT!

Ray hated Christmas!
The whole Christmas season!
Now, please don't ask why. No one quite knows the reason.
It could be that his head wasn't screwed on quite right.
It could be, perhaps, that his shoes were to tight.
But I think that the most likely reason of all
May have been that his heart was two sizes too small.

Well my kids do the advent calendar thing so I suppose we start the 1st of December but we don't put the tree up until my hubby's birthday on the 18th.

The kids get their advent calendars on the 1st December.

We have always put our tree and decorations up about 15th December but after a load of mithering from my daughter we are putting our Christmas stuff up tomorrow.
