Whats yours mean?

Nicked this idea from the American Expats site while being nosy!

So what does your user name mean or where did you get it from? There are a few interesting ones on here... so lets hear em.

Mines boring Matt being my first name and Butt being part of my surname....

snorkmaiden Jun 23rd 2004 11:50 pm

The Snorkmaiden was a character in a kids programme(The Moomins) which my husband describes as post hippy animated puppetry, and I really liked her.

The show was pretty strange, and I liked strange a lot, and it was the first name that came to mind when I was registering
;)

A Conan O'Brien sketch is where I got my name from. He does a late night talk show on NBC after Leno. Saw the show first on NBC super channel about 6 or 7 years ago.

Hey, you're not the Matt Button who I used to know vaguely when I was a kid in Cambridge, are you?

Oh, and my user name is really dull - it's the same one I've used since the first day I went online at University

jambo_2004 Jun 24th 2004 12:17 am

total lack of immagination here I'm Jan and i live in Michigan ... funny that eh ?

Jan :)

rincewind Jun 24th 2004 12:47 am

There is a long story to mine but to keep it to a few simple words:

rincewind = Pratchett Fan

:D

datcha Jun 24th 2004 1:01 am

Mine's a cutdown version of my full name and was blessed upon me by some friends years ago.

David A(xxxxx)d = Dave Atcha = Datcha

Curiously "datcha" means "summerhouse" in I think German and Russian. Its also the name of a Jawa in the Star Wars novels - kinda ironic as I'm a big fan of the original movies and also love collecting stuff, rather like Jawas. Nice.

Oh and its my music-producing moniker also =)

Cheers,
David.

waxwabbit Jun 24th 2004 4:32 am

Hehe

Ive had many people online comment that they liked my name, thinking it was a play on bugs bunny (?) somehow, but actually, it was a nickname given to me when I was younger by my dad and brother (not sure who came up with it).

They thought I had goofy teeth, and when I was younger my ears gave me trouble and were often waxy, hence waxwabbit!

Personally I love the alliteration, makes it catchy!

:)

Mine is actually my grandmothers name, shortened from Euphemia, same as my first name although I do not go by that.
