Most is an overstatement, in terms of the reality of what Oakland is really like. Partially because the hipsters seem to be getting increasingly bored with San Francisco, and are slowly claiming parts of West Oakland and downtown, on top of moving to the established safer neighbourhoods.

I mean, I still know people who have been caught slipping and have been mugged for looking like they have something of value on them in the Bay, but at the same time I know people who've been beaten for no apparent reason by gangsters or MMA-obsessed 'roid heads in the supposedly safer suburbs.

MMA now there is a thread. While I am guilty of enjoying the spectacle, the audience it draws are a little like "Raider Fan"

And doing so all over watching sweaty men hug for 10 minutes with the odd punch or kick thrown intermittently, to be fair.

Really it is more about the ring girls, and oh yeah, the blood.

But Oakland has a nearby Ikea!

I seem to remember a couple of OK areas.

MMA?

The word 'awesome' as abused here in the united states of americaland... Because most of what this word applied to isn't close to being awesome.

Find a better way to express yourself or shut up. If you could manage this for a whole day, that would be awesome....

Names given to military operations... Operation Kill All Towel Heads really doesn't add to America's standing in the world. I propose "Operation Rolling Silly Name Awesome Purge Shock and Awe" be executed right away.

I'm pretty sure it was the British who invented the modern suburb, starting back in the 1880s, went into high gear in the 1920s - 30s. Three British novelists who talk a lot about soulless speculative "ribbon" development etc are Arnold Bennett, J.B. Priestley and George Orwell.

Not to say that the Americans didn't bring suburbanisation to an even higher pitch of awfulness..

I cant stand the word awesome just because of the way it's used, someone's new shoes are awesome , your hair cuts awesome, ? Nobel peace prize is awesome, not new shoes.
The when I go back to England, I feel like slapping people that say, FINK instead of THINK?..I Fink we,ll go tu pub.

Nickelodeon.

No wonder we have new generations of shallow air heads with iCarly and Victorious making Spongebob in to the intellectual show on Nickelodeon.

Hey!

Spongebob is the best thing on TV... Well, Patrick is really, but that goes without saying.

My beef ain't with Spongebob. If he and Patrick just step aside so I can smack Carly and that Victorious girl.

You need shows like we had growing up, with teenagers getting knocked up and people on drugs ****ing their lives up so children realise that it's not all sunshine and unicorn farts in the real world.

No, a bunch of rich teenaged knob-heads who get to do what they want all the time. That sends out a much better message.
