We'd love to do a cross-country drive to say Alaska or the Grand Canyon, but the cost of petrol has meant we'll probably put that off indefinitely. :( When we lived in TX years ago, we bought a camper van & did a few summer family drives all around the state, as well as further afield to camp in great places like the Ozarks & the Blue Ridge Mts. I guess I'll have to be happy with those memories for now.
I shouldn't complain, because our househunt has taken us all around New England, to some beautiful spots that I never would have thought about. :cool: |

Crossed off my bucket list:
Yellowstone and the Grand Tetons Smokey Mountains NP Mount Rushmore Grand Canyon Rocky Mountains NP Witnessed a Shuttle Launch. Hawaii - this was a twofer, the snorkeling and beaches & saw an active volcano. Actually a threefer - we saw whales too. Have seen bears in the wild. Took the kids to Disney World. Other "off list" highlights: Cycled from Houston to Austin Cycled over the Golden Gate Bridge Spent a weekend on a "Dude" ranch Rafted through the Santa Elena Canyon (Rio Grande, Big Bend NP) Visited the Universal Studio's Harry Potter attraction in Orlando. Still to do: Yosemite Glaciers NP Visit Washington DC Visit New York city Go Skiing Visit Alaska esp.Wrangell - St Elias NP. Drive the Pacific highway See a display of the Aurora Borealis Hike the Appalachian Trail. Visit Mexico. |

Unfortunately my hiking days are over, due to a very bad knee injury some years ago. I can manage about 2 hours but that is it.

Photograph a sunset/sunrise with a Saguaro in silhouette See the Rockies (I have seen them from the air in Canada but not quite the same as from the ground) Visit Hawaii Visit New England Drive 1,000 miles. Doesn't matter to where, just to say I've done it :lol: Carlsbad Caverns Move out of Illinois some day Get pissed again without a seven month hangover 2017 total solar eclipse in Kentucky Having the time and money to do all these things :blink: |
