LMAO
I'm looking forward to it already!
Dispite what has been said about 'everyone' wanting to live here (which I agree is an exaggeration) I can understand it though, this is a great life and there ARE many thousands of people that would love to make it over here. Only the most dedicated/lucky actually make it and many of them have to go back again after 6 years.
I'll support anyone in their dreams and aspirations but the key word is realistic, I'm sure we all agree to live here is (at times) far from a holiday.

There are good things and bad things about every country and am sure US is nothing truly different. And I don't think I"ve seen ANY political figure that hasn't managed to put his foot in his mouth at least once in his career.
I live at a border town in Canada. Ten minutes from my house is the big bridge to the US. Yet am from England/Scotland and I guess at the momment considering the benefits of US.
Resent the implication that something is wrong with a country because it chooses to defend itself against hostile actions. I might not be politically correct in my own country, yet I know I am not the only one from Canada who feels as I do.
I remember back some years ago when Argentina was having a kuffufle with a small island that was British. I remember Britain sending over their forces and the back up that came from this side of the ocean. I remember that support being more American than Canadian--maybe the guys in charge at the time went to the same kind of school that I did.
In my school, if a bully hit you, you hit back. You did NOT give up your marbles and go home and cry and you did not then give up your marbles every day to this kid just to maintain a friendship. You stuck up for your rights even if they were bigger than you--and you left the place with some kind of self-esteem intact--and often your marbles. And often times, your friends stood up with you--and ultimately there was less violence in the playground.
Here, where my kids go to school, it seems as if the bullies run the playground. And rather than standing up for themselves, most of the kids run home to Mom and a new set of marbles are produced quite quickly. Nothing truly is done to correct the anti-social behavior of the one or two that hurt the majority of the other kids so some of them become friendly just for the fact that they don't want to be hit themselves.
I likened this past situation much to a narrower--more homely violence situation. Domestic abuse. In this type of situation, if the guy hits you and you cry and respond by snivelling and making increased efforts to 'make him happy' you are likely to end up beaten again. If you leave, stand strong and do what it takes, often times you might end up 'alone' for a while, but the guy will learn (hopefully) that if he hits his woman he loses her.
I remember 7/11. I remember sitting there stunned watching all that happened. I remember it wasn't ONLY the states that was totally hit there because the buildings hit were representatives of all or us. Yet it was on American soil and for that I am glad. Not because it happened 'to them' but because if it had happened in Canada I think we would have responded likely by putting our heads in the sand and who knows who else and how many others would have died for that response. I've often wondered since then, just how long the ostrich lasts by pretending his foe isn't there.
People often say that 'peace begets peace' and often times that is correct especially when dealing with normal, sane, non violent people. But just as typically by attempting to placate the abusive husband does NOT beget peace but simply more beatings--I tend to think in this kind of situation peace does not beget peace and when one country or group of people claim they are at peace with you while their actions clearly demonstrate otherwise--I guess I have learned the adage that actions speak louder than words.
Obviously others don't agree with me. Thats okay. But untill its 'their' country that is being bombed and their wives and husbands and children that are being killed, I don't think its truly fair to judge.
I am glad that Britain did what they did to support the US. I am glad for the actions that the US took--so when you make a statement "whats with the US" and use that because of a political standpoint, I guess I tend to take that as I am included in that group, even though I am not US.
My only regrets and frustration is that Canada did not do more--but I guess this is evident in the way they handle the school yard bullie here.
And while -some- Americans may not be liked in some parts of the world, I am certain that has more to do with individual egos responding to individual egos. Myself, I 'never liked Americans' because that was how it was. Untill I worked waitressing and I realized that some of them were very friendly and very nice--just like Canadians, British, Portuguese and any of the other groups I served. And some of them were idiots--just like Canadians, British, Portuguese and any of the other groups I served.

It will start again in and around October once people start getting back from Walt Disney World.
Hi my name is <insert name> We just got back from Florida and we just fell in love with the place.
I am a carpenter and my wife works for Woolworths. Can anyone find me a company that employs joiners, is a shop assistant a specialist skill?
We put a down payment on a condo in St petersburgh, what are the school like for a 11 year old and an 8 year old.
I have got about $85,000 equity in my house, whats this E2 visa all about.
And then when you tell them they're living in cloudcuckooland they tell you either.
a) If you can't say anything nice then don't say anything.
or
b) Well I would give my right arm to live in the USA, you obviously don't appreciate it, you should give me your green card.
I get that type of bollocks all the time Chris.
