Well, tickets are booked and my mother is on her way to visit us in the US in 4 weeks. This morning I got that email saying 'start telling me fron now what you would like me to bring'.

That's my question? What shall I ask for? What would you ask for?

Various curry mixes

One more thing (beyond dunroving's list): Mango Chutney. It seems hard to find a decent jar of MC here! I love it (especially on some curries).

Avoid fruit and flowers and untinned meat. Basically anything that is fresh and exposed. So fresh (or not so fresh) bush meat is out!

And check the latest regulations on foods and types of food that can be safely carried back into the USA, the regs do change.

Marmite!

It's a condition of an British visitors to our home that they must carry at least 4 of the 1/2lb pots of Marmite.

...but then if you're in the "I hate Marmite" crowd then you won't appreciate this!

Tea bags and chocolates is usually what I get brought or shipped. Flakes were all over my house back in september, so much so that I burnt myself out on them and I am now dying for a crunchie . My wife likes shortbread, so we get that from time to time also. I can just go down the road to the Brit store though if I ever need some essentials

If you're an instant coffee drinker(almost unheard of here) you might want some of that brought too.

I may be wrong but I think the "Cadbury" stuff out here in the US is made under license by Hershey which in turn means it tastes like shite.

(These mags are sooo much better than the US editions. They are awaited eagerly by my Aussie expat friends and likewise I get to see their Oz edition of Marie Claire & Australian Womans Weekly. The American editions are awful; no polital commentary at all, just celeb news and dieting tips (yawn).
