Which one? Guessing not the one in Maine? If it is, drink beer, eat lobster and that's about it...

Mount Hood.

My dh spent a couple of days there on his way to a conference and I was green with envy that I didn't go.

There's lots of outdoors stuff to do around Portland. I haven't been there for a while though.

I can't help there then, but there's a hell of a lot more to do there than the one in Maine

You can stand on a hillside on the Pacific coast and watch the sun rise over Mt Hood like I did (see photo)

Portland area is beautiful and Oregon is the most beautiful state I ever drove through.

So which hill? Saddle Mountain? Lived in OR for 18 months now... love it, agreed with the most beautiful state!

Patrick, the photo link seems blank?

I agree - Oregon is gorgeous, especially at this time of year.

To the OP - are you looking for city things especially? It might somewhat depend on your age and likes. Bars and clubs, (don't ask me), or perhaps enjoy browsing the Saturday Market or Farmer's market. Also depends how much time you have to see stuff. or if you have a family to think of too.
For instance if you are a young single guy a day at the zoo might not appeal!

In Portland you'll be 2 hours from the coast, less than that from wine country, maybe 1.5-2 hours from Mt. Hood - I think it really depends on what you want to do! There are tons of options.

KJ2007, Perhaps you could organise a meet up for us POO s while you are here? I'm not much of an organising person, but would come to a get together. What do you think? Any other locals interested?

Come over and water the plants while you're here; I'm headed out of town.
