I like it, hubby likes it and my kid likes it. I only have to make enough for 12 people, so if I can get 9 kids to try a bit I'm sorted

Talking Thanksgiving here not Christmas 
Having your kid take mince pies for a school holiday party will surely have him ostracised until...well...forever, as "that kid who brings in mince pies." They will NOT go over well with kids.
From my first holidays in the UK - I remember....wine, beer, crackers (yes! Those pull things that we really don't use here in USA, but you can find them in World Market, and our crackers are saltines...for cheese... anyhow...), spongy cakes with jams in them...how about one of those?
I doubt fruit cake will go over well either.
Apple cobbler is always nice. (When I think UK dessert, though, I think bannoffee pie!)

Ah yeah, but as soon as Dad keeps every little 3 x 2 inch offcut of plywood, broken lawnmower engine and a leaky tap in the garage cos it'll "come in handy for something" he's suddenly a hoarder that needs intervention. Sheesh...double standards or what
The US schools are so prudish, they hide the beer and wine....

The first year we were here I made individual choc cornflake cakes for my daughter's to take into school for her birthday. The kids loved them. So when I had to make something for the school I made a variation on the cornflake cakes ie...M & M's, mini marshmallows etc. So easy to make and can be made a day or two before.
