Default What issues are on your local voting polls?

One of the big ones locally seems to be number 2, to allow assisted suicide or not.

So what about you guys?

And is Maine planning to try and ban bear baiting again?

The ones I've heard about are an additional tax for those earning over $250,000, money raised to go into education; labelling of genetically modified food; and one seeking to limit political donations from union dues.

FFS I live in California - you don't seriously expect me to list all of them, do you?

Here is the list ...

That's another one on the lot over here too....though apart from seeing signs about it in Boston, not so much care in the burbs, though a lot of signs saying "no" to voting in the suicide.

Apart from various bonds the only one here in my bit of Maine is gay marriage.

Nothing about bear baiting this time around...

Next town over wants to stop subsidizing the bus service. Someone put a sign up saying 'Stop subsidizing the bus' and someone put a sign next to it saying 'Let them eat cake...'

- Require all municipal police departments to be controlled by the local governing body. (one particular local police department is controlled by the State)
- increase the tax on cigarettes (currently the lowest of all the states).
- prohibit the creation of a state health insurance exchange (f u, Obamacare, and f u any citizen who isn't lucky enough to have employer health insurance)

Regards, JEff

Legalize cannabis.

Allow casinos to be built anywhere in the State. At the moment it is only tribal lands.

Looks like both will fail.

Ho hum.....
That is - The local amendment ballot initiatives in the upcoming election are unfortunately not of sufficient import to act as a mechanism (as is often the case) to pull in otherwise indifferent voters. And since the presidential result is going to be so close - neither side can rely on the "spill-over effect" of increased turn-out which occurs when there's a "hot-button" issue to pull in otherwise indifferent voters.
It's going to be a down-to-the-wire-nail-biter +

polls show increased support for legalizing pot in WA
55% yes; 38% no.

Progressive insurance chairman Peter Lewis has donated $2 million to fund 'yes' adverts.
Travel writer Rick Steves has also been seen a lot promoting 'yes'.
The 'no' campaign has raised just about nothing.

Proposition 1: Whether to allow the sale of alcohol in restaurants.
Proposition 2: Whether to allow the sale of alcohol for off-premises consumption.

I'm para-phrasing in each case, the actual wording is such that 95% of the population here won't know what it means and thus the proposition being "positive to pass" will be rejected again.

Around here we are just getting the news about the Titanic sinking!

If the tv, radio, billboards, mailings, canvassing and public appearances are anything to go by, the presidential outcome. I can't stand it anymore.
