Last time I was in California I managed a half-assed life for three-and-a-half months without a car. Just me and blokes whose surnames end in Z out there on department store ten-speeds. The only car I ever owned in the States was a '87 Ford Mustang convertible. It was crap.

The other half has finally relented and is letting me get my Mazda Speed3; just got to get the money together and then I'm off to get it.

We also have a 2006 Subaru Outback.

A 1999 BMW 540 sport, I average 17 mpg and I still simile when filling it with gas. It was cheap to buy but costs a bit to keep on the road.

After renting 40+ cars over here, I’m still impressed with the build quality of BMW.

Hi:

Most Toyota owners I know end up buying another one. Most Taurus owners I know ended up never buying another Ford for twenty years.

I had a Lincoln LS from a firm I used to work for. I liked the car but the devil was in the details -- gladly gave it back when the lease ended.

Hi:

Just of idle curiosity, what is weird about buying an '08 in the '08 model year?

The new Taurus is the Ford 500 with some improvements. My neighbour had the 500 and now has the Taurus - it's a very different car than it used to be. I've never liked Ford whether in England or here. Strangely I used to get travel sick in them in England so try to avoid going near them.

That's exactly why I pointed out that I liked the new Ford Taurus........... I was kind of suprised myself.
I'm sure if I were to actually buy a car in that range I would research it more thoroughly

Hi:

Don't confuse model year with calendar year. I remember it used to be a BIG event when the new models came out in September/October -- if nothing else, the sheet metal would be changed.

In accounting and government, there is often a "Fiscal Year" which is different than the calendar year. For the State of California, Fiscal 2009 starts July 1st. For the US Government, Fiscal 2009 starts October 1, 2008.

hmmm.. I thought I wanted an SUV because hitting a deer with one is more appealing than hitting it with a car, if this makes sense.. But I can't decide on one cause I don't really like them .. I hate feeling undecisive...

Basement- how happy are you with that A4 quattro and do you have to drive it in snow?
