What do you 'do?'

for a living, I mean! I do payroll, for a university. I actually find it quite interesting (and it's good cos you get to know how much everyone earns :) But bad when you see a lot of them get more than you do! :(

In this house... I do everything! ;)

Think everyone already knows this ......... I serve breakfast in a hotel at the ungodly hour of 6am ..... and when I'm finished I get to help with the laundry. *YaY*

The job I had this summer was more interesting, I planned, laid out and planted flower beds on some squillionaires hobby farm/equestrian centre. Uh huh ..no shortage of well rotted manure too.
The best part was I got to go horse riding for free :)

who knows whats next ?!?!

Jan :)

The latter job sounds like a lot of fun to me jan... Do you ride English or Western?

My daughter prefers English, as do I, but Western is encouraged for some rediculous reason here. But, she did say the post came in handy for hanging onto when her horse Jack of no Trades took her into the stable gutters. She says after that she might try riding in the circus one day.... Pray she changes her mind!

I work for a staffing agency in NYC which is part of GoodWill, and is called, surprisingly, GoodTemps, and this is my first job in the US.

I've only been there a few weeks, but I like it. It's hectic, but great to be finally working and even better to finally have some cash burning a hole in my pocket. I juggle several job roles; I'm part recruiter, part placement support, and part multiple other tasks :)

If anyone in NYC or NJ is looking for work, give me a shout :)

Bridgie the stables only had one horse that would ride English ... Scooter was the slowest horse I've ever ridden so I ended up learning to ride Western, neck reigning was all new to me but didnt take much time to pick up. I think the most fun was learning how to handle the 'big boys' the drafts, they are so like great big one ton puppies I'm attaching a pic of my favs ... Jim and Doc .. who couldnt love them :)

Also 3 nights a week I work at the local radio station, helping out during the live sports feeds. (Basically I sit there play commercials and tell the commontaters how other games are going)
Before that I was a Sports Writer for the local paper.

As if you didn't already know, I'm an intensive care nurse. I love my job and take a lot of pride in what I do, as it's been a hard road to get here. I particularly enjoy trauma cases: road accidents, attempted suicides, etc. OK...enjoy is the wrong word...it fascinates me and I love the action and drama of dealing with these people. It's humbling having people's lives in your hands but it gives you a certain confidence in life to deal with other difficult things. I got into nursing in the first place because I had a motorcycle accident when I was younger and I feel like I was given a second chance. I love hospitals..it's amazing how many people hate them. It's a good nurturing environment.

jan...those horses are gorgeous! I used to ride when I was very young and my father used to ride his horse around Hampstead all the time! I'm hoping to start riding again when I get to Arizona.

Horses are fun - better than a rabbit - eh London?

BrigieDarling Oct 22nd 2003 12:49 am

Too right... who wouldn't love them Jan? We have an ex race horse named Stretch... OMG, you had better watch it when his ears go down.

In another life he must have been a show jumper, he could care less who is rding him, just don't let him near the fence.
