mountain biking down the slopes? My oh and teenage son did this a couple of summers ago in Whistler and had a blast. I'm pretty sure they do it in Colorado

White water rafting. Camping. Mountain Biking. Fly Fish. Rock Climb. Hike a 14er (ah, no, don't... drive up one or two of them). Concert at Red Rocks. Diamond Cabaret as Titchski said. There's quite a lot to do out here.

If you come to Colorado then you as Tarkak9 suggested, you need to head to the mountains: backpacking, hiking and fly fishing are what I spend most of my three seasons doing. People love to drive up to Mt. Evans on the Scenic Byway, visit the Sand Dunes near Mosca and the Garden of the Gods in Colorado Springs is also a popular place.

If this is not your idea of fun, then catch a show at Red Rocks. Elitches Theme Park and Waterworld are also a great way to spend a day. There are a few museums to visit (History, Nature/Science, Art). Denver also as a zoo and aquarium. Denver is also home to the theatre (DCPA) and the local schools (Metropolitain College of Denver, University of Denver and University of Colorado, Denver/Boulder) also have shows that are worth attending.

There really is so much to do in Colorado.

Go in the winter and go skiing/snowboarding. I have been about 5 or 6 times now to various resorts - last time to Vail was my favorite, its the closest thing to a European resort in the US, IMHO.

If you are going in summer, as Lisa67 says, the ski resorts turn a lot of the runs into mountain bike trails and still run some of the lifts, so you can get your bike to the top and ride down.

For you, but maybe not so much for the kids. A trip round Coors brewery in Golden (free). Go up to the Rocky Mountain National Park. Beautiful scenery, and the road there goes up to about 12,000 feet. The Stanley Hotel in Estes Park where The Shining was supposed to have been based upon or filming was supposed to have taken place, I can't remember which one for now. I think there are some alpine slides in some of the ski towns in the summer. Try some panning for gold in some places here. There are also some thermal springs that you can go in some parts of the state. Have a great time.

Come to the Mercury Cafe for some fantastic swing dancing. The kids and adults will enjoy that. It's on 22nd and California. Tuesday, Thursday or Sunday.

Also, you can go to the hot springs in Idaho Springs.

Or, drive up to Rampart Range where you can shoot stuff and blow things up to your heart's content amid gorgeous scenery. (Try not to hike around this area).
