I would take an Egg and Bacon Pie. It's not really a Quiche so not classed as French
I make mine with a potato pie crust instead of using pastry. I just boil the spuds mash them and then put them in a pyrex pie dish, pushing the mashed potato into the shape of the dish and then lightly coat the potato with Olive Oil, bake it for a while until it is slightly crusty. I then make a quiche type mixture of eggs and add cheese mushrooms and Canadian Bacon, tip it over the potatos and then put back in the oven and bake. Serve with a salad and it is yummy!

It doesn't taste much like pizza, but I guess you could put pepperoni on it, if you wanted to adapt it more towards a "yankee pallette" lol.

I have always made it with Ketchup, that's how my Dad taught me, I have never heard of using mustard in it, but I guess you learn something new every day

i always had welsh rarebit as a white sauce (with mustard as per normal), allowed to go cold, and then grated cheese added in. Spread on toast and the cheese melts into the sauce. even better topped of with a bit of crispy english bacon. best food evah!

Well seeing as this is still rolling on, thought I would update I took veggie curry which was well received, someone even asked for a recipe so here is a rough idea of what I made.
I did not realise just how slow a slow cooker was as I took it in one it to warm it up.
Vegetable Curry
Ingredients
1 large onion chopped
Fresh cilantro
Fresh tomatoes about 6-10
1 Chili
4 cloves of garlic crushed/chopped Garlic 1 inch piece of fresh ginger grated
Cauliflower/ Half an Eggplant /Potatoes
(You can add any veggies you like, peas carrots, green pepper etc.)
Spices
Turmeric ½ to 1 teaspoon
Garam Masala 1 teaspoon
Cumin 1 teaspoon
Salt 1 teaspoon
Dried cilantro/coriander 1 teaspoon
Method
Fry onions until soft, add garlic ginger and chili, fry for a few minutes.
Add tomatoes, chopped in half, I take out the skin as it peels off during cooking.
Add spices, taste as you go along and add more as you feel you need to.
Add other vegetables bring to boil then simmer until vegetables are soft.
Add fresh cilantro
The more tomato and onion base you make the more sauce the curry will have.

Mmmm, that sounds really tasty - I'm not surprised they were asking for the recipe!
I've been using the patak's curry pastes recently, but I might try making from scratch just to see the difference.

I guess it just shows how people put different ingredients into recipes we call the same thing but make differently. your recipe sounds delicious, I will try that next time :-)
Love the potato crust idea too, gotta try that! I hate making pastry, there is definately an art to making "good" pastry! Same thing with yorkshire puds. I am in the 'cooking for one' period at the mo' till hubby gets back, so it's more picking at stuff than actual cooking, but I do love to cook (and eat:-) will save some of these ideas you guys have posted for after May.
