Turning on a red and cheap fuel. Cheaper housing. Better weather (from my bit of the US ) Nice beaches and sea. Ahh, never mind, I'll just stop here

No, but we tend to dwell on the stuff we find annoying or what we see as odd in this forum 95% of the time about our adopted country. Yet I'd say a good 95% of the posters in this forum enjoy living here. So lets see some positives and some ways we could improve Blighty, by taking a closer look at America for a change.

The right-on-red-if-clear LAW, which would translate into left-on-red in the UK since driving is on the opposite site of the road.

Actually, in Texas, you CAN turn left on red if clear -- IF you are on a one-way street and turning onto a one-way street. Usually only accomplished in city centres/downtowns.

Clover-leafs and all-way stops instead of roundabouts? Even if you can navigate them, and I learnt the sink-or-swim way, they completely screw up your sense of direction!

Right on Red in the USA but it would be left on red on the UK, or there would be mayhem if you could turn right on red in the uk

My friends are currently moaning about there being no Lucky Charms cereal in the UK and begging me to either bring some or ship it over.

As to customer service, one of the funnier things I have heard was an African-American comedian living in London commenting on customer service in the UK. He was appalled at what he felt was a deficit, and he said, "In America we have a saying: 'The customer is always..... carrying a gun.' (And having a bad day!)"

He had a point.

When I read this I am always amazed and think you either went to all the wrong the places in the UK or I live in good customer service free zone.

CVS misfilled my daughters perscription and we had one heck of a time
1. getting them to accept at the store they had ****ed up
2. Getting head office to do anything about it
3. Getting any kind of appology from CVS whatsoever.
After 2 months we got $50 gift card and a letter of appology for their customer service (no mention of the misfill whatsoever)

GMAC has credited our December mortgage payment to someone elses account by mistake, will they be accountable, no. It has taken them 3 months and they still haven't solved the problem and credited our account with the payment, this means at the 1st of the month when we automatically become 2 payments behind on the computer we get nasty phone calls.

The guy in Best Buy this morning completly blanked me 3 times.

If you consider walking into a store when it is empty and being harrased by every shop assistant there is or walking into a store when it is busy and being completly ignored good customer service then go ahead. At least in England you know you are going to be completly ignored by the shop girl and given a huge tut if you actually ask them a question.

I think half you people beleive the hype!
