Arrow What’s in a car's number plate?

Having “one of those days when I had a “pick me up. Saw a car with the plates, “USA-GC or might have been “USA GC, I only got a quick look at it. I figured this person recently acquired a Green Card and to celebrate splashed out on a new car with a number plate telling the world he had a Green Card. I did not know that one could use a country's designation in a car number plate. I would like something like "DNA 1" or "ATP-1" or "Biotech". The senior partner (in fact he was the only partner) of the last law firm I worked at had a custom plate, something like: "Patent 1".

The other day I saw an average looking car but with the plates, “Shahab 3. Hmmmmm, maybe this car owner is not so happy about the USA.

Anyone else seen an exceptional car number plate that left one wondering about the vehicle’s owner?

It seems like half the cars round here have a vanity tag. Last year I saw "MR PLOD!" on a ex-British right-hand-drive mini here in NC, driving down I85 towards Charlotte. I also saw "RIA-UK!" on a pokey little Kia Rio, and with a St George's cross tag on the front, presumably being driven by Ria, from Britain.

My favorite, at least recently, has been "LUVMYWYF" on a Toyota pick-up, and I'm not sure whether it is a declaration of affection, or an invitation!

I saw a good one on a Honda Pirus the other day. It was "50 MPG" in reference to its hybrid electric engine. I wanted "UKTOUSA" but someone already has it.

I am currently amazed at how many cars I see on a weekly basis with Union Jack front vanity plates around here.

So whats on your cover plate, if you have one?. I've got a Diamondbacks cover plate.

I'm suprised about vanity tags over here - the dvla cottoned on to the fact that people will spend silly money on them in the UK, but the centre of capitalism charges hardly anything....

I think any tag up to 7 characters in TN is about $90!

I'm breast cancer survivor. My plate has the cancer "flower" on it and reads:

My hubby who spent 36 years in the RCAF proclaims his status with:

I saw "MO FO" from NY the other day.

I fancy getting one of the Union Flags for the front end of my car but I think that NY requires both ends to have the license plate on it . I'll have to look into it though!

Yes, NY requires a front plate.

This isn't specifically related to vanity plates, but you might find this website interesting (U.S. and Canadian plates for all states/provinces from 1969 to date):

I have BLUSLVR which has a double meaning for me. Blue Silver because I love Duran Duran, and Blues Lover because I support Chelsea.

I once saw a new red Corvette driving around with MAN U FC, but the funniest one I remember was WAS HIS on a Mercedes.
