For anyone considering the transfer of funds to the US from UK I recently did this via Moneycorp extremely smoothly and without a hiccup and with a rate much,much better rate than my own bank.
They also hooked me up with a AAA-rated US bank that had an online account up and running within 24 hours with a named contact I can call or email at any time and I received two VISA debit cards for myself and the missus within five days.
I'd forgotten quite what it's like to be able to pick up the 'phone and speak to a real person in a branch rather than a call centre.
If only the UK high street banks were this efficient.

You'll probably find that was the lucky exception to the rule over here and that the banks customer service will all go down hill now you're a customer
