Chicago was first choice, but due to some bad planning, that's off the cards now (due to the marathon).
Traverse City is looking like a good suggestion for a nice chilled long weekend

Mackinac Island would be a good spot, although it's going to be mighty quiet.
I recommend the Lake View Hotel. They're offering good packages this time of year.
Cunningham's Restuarant in Macinaw City does one hell of a Beef Pasty.

Anyone have any suggestions? Before someone says Chicago, that was my plan, but the weekend I have free they have a marathon on, so no cheap hotels available.
Looking for somewhere to go, 6 hrs driving max from Detroit.
Thinking about Indianapolis, but not sure if that's worth the 5 hr drive?

OK, back from Traverse City, it was great, albeit a little cold, probably would have been nicer a month earlier.... Wasn't expecting winter weather to come so fast this year!
