Man holding the mike: “I have the power in me, I have the power in me … to join this happy couple in matrimony – anyone got a coke … I’m parched.”

I did Vegas for my first marriage - needless to say it wasn't anything or anywhere near what I wanted.

Second and last marriage - Scotland - wedding in a castle with a lovely reception in a hotel at the base of the Wallace Monument.

We were sorely tempted to do that!

As it was we had about 100 guests, 15 or so from the UK. At La Venta in Palos Verdes, CA. It's a fantastic venue with breathtaking views. Bloody overpriced though. Then everything is so much more expensive here.

My wedding was even more minimal than Ray's. I married in the famous Westminster Register Office in central London (pity about the traffic on Marylebone Road) with a slap up meal in the private room of Royal China in Queensway. There were about 17 guests at the wedding ceremony and sixteen at the meal. There were no fortune cookies at the end of this meal.

We honeymooned some months later in Paris (after applying for and getting my I-130 by DCF at the US Embassy).

Just have to say that the royal china rocks, miss it big time!

Ok we got married in courthouse, by a judge, mother in-law, father in-law, sis in-law made it out to indy for it. (no one from uk came over). very small affair, few people from hubbys work came to watch (was also at 10am which drove me nutz, but only time judge could do it on a saturday). Had some champagne and cake back at the apartment, then family dinner at St Elmos Steakhouse (yum). Spent the night in a lovely suite . Had a dinner, in New york for hubbys family a few months later (grandparents, close cousins, friends etc). Was nice, had a lovely cake there (had a delicious cannoli filling, go bless having italian in laws lol). Good times.

What was you wedding like? was it in the UK or US? was it a quicky civil cermony or something more elaborate? was it planned out or a last min thing?

We got wed in the US (in Florida) at a place called The English Gardens it was planned out... the whole white wedding bit... from us booking it in March (we got married in Nov) I spent the whole time panicing because of having to get a K1 etc no wedding insurance company would touch me... luckly all worked out well and it was a beautiful wedding.

Had a civil ceremony in Belfast City Hall (the one lined with wood fitted by the same Italian carpenters who worked on the Titanic thank you very much) and had the reception in Belfast Castle. My new in-laws who are from the States enjoyed it a lot. It was a small do with 13 people including me and the wife.

*sniff*

Debs did a fantastic job of arranging most of the big stuff before I arrived in the US in March but there was still plenty of minor details to arrange after I arrived.

We had about 65 people at the wedding and reception, about 15 of whom were a combination of friends and family from the UK. My dad was my best man and apart from the weather that scuppered our longterm plans for an outdoor wedding, the day went really well and everyone had a great time. Official wedding pics courtesy of my uncle can be found here.

The kid in that pic is my 10 year old stepdaughter and I don't beleive anything was being done to her besides her being asked to smile for the 200th time that day.
