John 3:16, for anyone who hasnt climbed a clock tower with a semi automatic rifle yet, is

For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

I think we can be pretty sure that T-Storms are an act of nature as opposed to some Uber Being getting pissed at his subjects. But anyway....

I have to agree with him on this, it seems over here there are the two extremes (the ones who don't really believe or care, and the ones who live their live for church and want to tell everyman and his dog about it at every opportunity, most of these 'pastors' who you see on tv, "Jesus will save you if you send me $300!" and people believe them! dumbarses!) you don't seem to have a happy medium like you do in the uk, with people keeping their religion primarily to themselves, going to church once a week etc. But this seems to apply to a lot of americans with everything, either full on. or not interested! well thats my experience anyway!

I know what you are saying but if all you are exposed to is the nutters on tv etc then thats the view you will have. I believe in God but if you knew me you would know that I am the one who was out till 4 am at weekend I am here drinking wine and having a laugh. I dont judge people, my previous comment re thunderstorms was meant to be fun, sometimes its just important to say hey I believe and im not a nutter, not all of my friends believe what I do. when i see the guys offering miracles for dolllars it pisses me off too, but it doesnt mean i dont believe they can happen. I rarely speak out in real life but here I feel if everyone whos not crazy stays silent we leave the stage only for the nutters. :)

I was talking about my experience ON THE WHOLE. Of course there are always exceptions to the rule, it just seems more prevalent over here, but a lot of things in America are very commercial and tend to be full on, and over the top! Incidentally I am a confirmed Catholic (not a very good one mind! ;) ) so I too believe in God, I wasn't attacking Christians or their faith, just the way some of them go about it!
