Default Visiting New York

Hi,

Not sure if this type of post is allowed so my apologies if it breaks any rules.

I am coming to visit new york in november with friends and was wondering if anyone knows the best place to book an apartment other than airbnb.

Thanks in advance.

Hey, this is the general USA forum, so the question is definitely permitted.

How long are you intending to be in NY that you require an apartment? Or perhaps are the number of people in your traveling party number high enough that one would be well worth the expenditure? And New York is a large state ... which city will you be visiting?

On the assumption you are meaning NYC, then look here at the results I pulled up from a simple google search

https://www.google.com/#q=short+term...=1496697591618

You might also want to look at extended stay hotels just outside of Manhattan (NYC proper) with a short commute into the city for recreational purposes.

Awesome, we will be visiting for 4 nights and there will be 7 of us hopefully as close to manhattan as financially viable. Any pointers would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for that, we are willing to do a short commute in but would be open to advice on best areas outwith manhattan with convenient transport links in.

Then here is a viable suggestion for you and if you are interested then best give them a call soon as November is not all that far away.

In the Woodlawn section of Yonkers on the Bronx border is a dedicated Irish enclave. There is a lovely pub/restaurant on McLean Avenue which has a two bedroom, bath, kitchen, and large living room (with sofa bed) above the pub that they rent out. The name of the place is McKeon's. I have put family up there many times and the avenue is seven walking blocks to the Metro-North train station (I walked it every weekday to go into Grand Central). This is a train, not a subway. There are also express buses to be had but they are less convenient as a means of going into the city.

I will look for their website and post it.

Please note that you do NOT have to be Irish to use this resource or to be welcomed by anyone and everyone in the neighborhood. It is a friendly place with two or three pubs on every street, lots of small restaurants, churches, parks, public transportation, deli's, etc.

Also if you want to be in the heart of Manhatten, check out the Radio City Apartments (they come in various configurations) and it's popular with airline cabin crews on a budget who are taking mini-breaks in NYC

Booking.com is known for hotels, but also does apartment listings. We stayed in an apartment in the East Village (Manhattan) booked via there. It was OK. New York does have a bedbugs problem (I lived there for two years) and apartments tend to be tiny so when I visit now, I always go for a hotel.
