visa waiver thing
Sorry if this is the wrong place but need advice quick,
Me and 7 friends booked a last min trip to florida, the travel agent told us that if any of us have been in trouble with the police for gods sake don't mention it when you arrive.
Anyway turns out 2 of us did when we were 18, got a conditional discharge for running up a phone bill on someone elses phone.
Its too late to apply for a visa, and the travel agent said they can't find out out anyway so just say nothing and enjoy the holiday.
Is this really the case?
Jo

You're just going on holiday right?
under the visa waiver scheme.
your mate weren't convicted of a felony, just the equivalent of a misdemeanor.
I am 99.9% sure they will be fine.
so long as when they were using the phone they weren't calling nazi germany between 1936-1945 or phoning multiple wives while practising polygamy

There is a city on the Arizona, Utah border called Colorado city, where polygamy is making big news, because the polygamists practically run the town. Seems child abuse and forced marriage is also rife. Damn freaks. Being nagged by one wife is bad enough, can you imagine being nagged by 10? :scared:

I think US immigration is same as most other countries, if you tell them a lie they will probably catch you out. Dont tell them lies but don't tell them any more than they have asked for.
In my view, a conditional discharge is not being in trouble with the police and I wouldn't think it was a criminal record. If you decided to think likewise, you would be anwering thruthfully if you were asked 'have you eve been in trouble with the police' .
Have a good holiday.
