Default Visa Revalidation.. Please Help!

Hi everyone,

Eight weeks ago, I sent my passport to the State Department to
revalidate my H4 visa stamp. I included all the required documents
(including certified copies of my husband's I797 and I94)

Yesterday, I got my passport back with a visa stamp in
it.. an H1B visa stamp! They also wrote my husbands petition
number on the visa, and they didn't write "Husband has H1B" as
was written on my expired H4 stamp. It's obviously a mistake.
How should I go about correcting this? Can I send them a fax
asking them what to do? Do they respond to faxes? Should I just
put my papers back in order again (with new application form
and photo) and send it to them? Do I need to pay the required
fee again?

Anyone had a similar experience? I'd greatly appreciate your help.
It has been a very stressful night!

Thank you very much

Anita

Default Re: Visa Revalidation.. Please Help!

A similar thing happened to us last year, we sent all required documents, photos, forms, passports etc. Our revalidation was denied because they reckoned we were asking for different visas....which we weren't. Couldn't get much joy over the telephone etc so in the end we sent everything back, including the copy of our money order as proof of original fee paid. We also enclosed a letter explaining everything. Amazingly we had our passports and documents back with the revalidated visa's within the week.

I think the best thing for you to do is to send everything back with a letter stating the problem. They sometimes make mistakes, but for us they made up for this by correcting the problem extremely quickly.

Hope this helps.
