Visa approved - Moving in 2 weeks! HELP!
Morning all.
Visa approved yesterday and flights booked for sunday 25th July! We are moving to California but have decided to have a 1 night stop in NYC on the way to San Fran.
SO much to do and no idea where to start!!
We are renting our apartment in UK out, fully furnished, so only taking clothes and personal items with us. Hubby's co are going to pay for air freight.
What do we need to do before we leave UK??? Who do we need to inform???
All help and advice welcome!!

Congrats on the visa.
In terms of what you need to do and who you need to inform, it's really not that much different from a move within the UK. Forward your mail, notify your utility companies, tell your family and friends where to reach you (unless you don't want them to, heehee) and so forth. Enjoy your move!

Go and visit your favorite UK places, you may never see them again.

Pack plenty of english food that you like
Go to your favourite restaurants before you leave, not forgetting to have your final full english breakfast at the the airport
Try and plan out your final goodbyes over the space of a few days, so if there are any last minute things you need to do you wont have to cancel seeing people
It seems so long ago that way did all of that, although its only been 8 months

Congrats and good luck!
As for the question, search out the forum, there's a few current threads on the subject and there's a pretty good wiki going over a lot of the things to consider on a move.
Biggest tip, say your good byes and do the fairwell thing a good few days before you go, it's the biggest pain in the arse having to get those last minute things squared away and off to the airport other wise.
