Violent offences top million mark

Violent offences in England and Wales reached record levels in 2004-5 with police recording one million crimes - up 7% from the previous year.
Police figures show 1,035,046 violent incidents against the person, excluding sexual offences and robberies.

Total recorded crime fell 6% to 5.6m incidents, but gun crime was up 6%.

But I am happy to report that crime on my street here in the US has not risen at all and still stands at Zero...
There was the vibrator incident ..but this was not classed as a crime ..

Crime against the person tends to reduce somewhat when the perpetrator is likely to take 2 CoM and 1 in the head. Well they certainly tend not to re-offend

No crime here either, although my wife is convinced that the Egyptian people downstairs had something to do with the London bombings.

My town's only crime was that manure theft. Well then there was the incident of a woman calling police when a man was knocking persitantly at her front door. She described him as dressed all in brown. Police found him to be a UPS man trying to deliver a package.

I so wish I was making this up.

Compare, proportionately, with the countries where they are not.

That report says that crime is down, gun crime is up as a percentage. It is also true that the number of guns in the UK has increased - legal or not. I can draw a few conclusions regarding the results of having an armed society.

Interesting comment. My theoretical maths tell me that in a country where guns are banned and have 11000 gun crimes compared to a country where in most parts it is legal, the perentage of gun crime compared to people who own gun/s
legally does not equate imho. Percentages of course.

Um, I mean # of gun crimes proportional to the size of the population. And there my happiness with statistics ends. Very much not a numbers person, and then there's always that lies, damned lies and statistics business.

From the short time I've spent here, I've come to realise that the less power that they have, the bigger the bastard they are. The ones with the plastic badges who work at the shopping malls are the worst
