Boy oh boy I hope somebody answers this one as we are going thru the
same thing in Vnam and I wonder about that too and woukd like to be
there when it happens. Although I will be there regardless if they let
me or not although I have an additional question and that is the
consulate in HCMC is just a big room with the workers behind the
glass. Isn't the interview conducted right there? Or do they open a
room somewhere??

No, you cannot go inside with your fiancee for the interview to
HCMC. You can't go inside at all unless you have a reason, like a lost
passport. But otherwise, there is no way you can get in.
Yes, the interview is conducted in the same large waiting room. You
are called by name and number. The number is for the glass window that
you must go to for the interview. You get up from the bench /chair you
are sitting in and walk up to the window. There are a dozen windows in
the room. You stand at the window and talk through a very thick glass.
The interview took abuot 15 minutes. Some take longer, some don't.
Yes, the consulate people are very rude and not friendly at all.
