Sorry Brigie, no, different signal (UK is PAL, US is NTSC), and you'd also have problems with the mains voltage.

You'd be better off buying a dual standard VCR - try DVD Overseas.com - you need a VCR that plays PAL tapes and has an output to a NTSC TV.

I did the research last night and bid on ebay... Seemed like the right thing to do! ô¿~

There is one that will play PAL tapes on an NTSC TV... but it was a bit pricey (Most places wanted 3.99) -- The Samsung SV5000W Worldwide VCR PAL/Secam/NTSC was going for 2.79 so I bought it. It doesn't need a converter thingy either.

It'll save me money in converting tapes and my sisters can send me British stuff as much as they want now!

LOL!!! If you cannot afford a 3 dollar and 99 cent price for a VCR you must be dirt poor, Brigie. :D

Although, I hear those 2 dollar and 79 cent VCR's break down as soon as you remove them from the box.......LOL!!!!;)
