I have all the propane I need so far so not interested in the 350 gallons... so you're fine with the $1 and digging it up then? Bloody covenants may have an issue with a tank so will have to check.. contingent on approval.

(natural) gas is measured by the cubic foot.
Utility companies suck, and they often have a de facto monopoly because the US is sparsely populated compared to the UK. The infrastructure costs are enormous with the long distances to cover.
Do any of you Floridians have heat pumps? I'm considering one, but have read that IF it goes below freezing, an electric heater has to be used to provide heat. It doesn't freeze for long very often here, but it does it much more so than in FL.
