Utility bills - bitch and moan...
Fack me....my electricity has doubled and the gas (for the house) has tripled in the last 2 months.
Um, just how much longer do the utility companies think they can bend you over?...time for a revolt me thinks.
Had a conversation with the old bid (mother) at the weekend, we were talking about house prices in Blighty (my brother has bought a bigger house), basically you can have a 4000 sq ft mansion here, but you can't afford to heat or cool the facking thing!
bitch over.

I feel the same way - my gas bill this month was nearly 500 dollars, and I DON'T have a 4000 sq ft mansion

The cost of utilities for a home is one of the variables and it's to be expected that bills will be more expensive in the winter months.
My suggestions are:
cut back on splurges (going out to eat, weekend trips, premium cable channels, etc.)
or simply move into a smaller home (do you really need a 4000 sq ft house?).

I do have a 4000 sq ft house and my electric bill has been $225 for the past two months. We keep the house at a constant 68. If you have your system programmed, you're not supposed to have more than a 5 degree change from home/away from home otherwise it's inefficient to try reheat back up to the higher temperature.

They do take liberties. Last months gas $47 actual reading. This month they estimated it, $181. Fair enough if they estimate a little high, but almost 4 times as much is taking the piss.

Er....I live in a 1800 sq ft house. I guess it read wrong. I could afford a mortgage on a 4000 sq ft house but its had to pay a gas bill on it when it goes up 54%.
I can live "within my means". Its hard to do a monthly budget when prices tripple...its not like my wages has trippled in the last 2 months.

I can sympathise. Our gas bill has gone up substantially too. We only have a 1500 sqft house and keep our heat down at 64 in the day and in the 50s at night. Luckily, Virginia has been warmer than normal so far this winter....just hoping it stays that way!!!

Like I said in my previous post, you don't want more than a 5 degree gap - it'll end up costing you more!

Do you think people in England pay 270 odd quid a month for gas only?
