Using My Inflatable Airbed In The US

Re: Using My Inflatable Airbed In The US
I suppose it depends on the definition of trouble, I would consider hauling an electric airbed across the pond as 'too much trouble'! (Also comes with the benefits of being useful for any other 240v 50/60Hz gadgets the OP may have had shipped over).

You can buy a dryer plug for around $15,

Are you sure this is worth the trouble and the expense. You could buy a decent airbed in the US with warranty for the price you may end up spending.

This is good advice. A reasonably safe transformer will likely cost most of what a brand new air mattress would cost.

Okay, this escalated somewhat and got way too complicated.
We brought it across last year, it's a double and the size of a backpack folded up so hardly a herculean task and it was shipped over with all our other furniture - it cost quite a bit (a hundred pounds plus)so be brought it with us. In a shipping container, it was no effort at all. No, it wouldn't be running all night, it would be running a few minutes to inflate the bed and then be turned off. The danger/risk is minimum. It's the only thing we brought from the UK that has a UK plug on it, everything else we bought new here.
I'll put up the slow running motor - it'll just take a few minutes more to inflate. All I wanted to do was get some more power to speed up the process.
Thanks to all those that replied.

ha yeas - it would have to go some before it would be referred to as 'THAT airbed thread' and suggested as a post of the year at the Christmas awards!

He could always plug it into the washing machine outlet XD I read they are 220v. Would Blow it up at the same rate as uk although it might blow it up mixing a single phase motor with dual phase XD
