USA vs UK

Re: USA vs UK
They are meant to be one is a vacation resort city the other started out as farming country. It is like comparing Benidorm to the Bordeaux region
Not been there much then or driven on the local freeways, and certainly not come across my brother-in-law an ordained minister. He uses his driving to convert people to religion.
It is certainly a very nice area we will be back there next weekend visiting the wineries and being driven very close to God.

Granted, but the point I was attempting to make is that it seems to me in my admittedly limited experience that where you are in America can play a huge factor on whether you enjoy American life or not.

I drove around loads whilst in the Tri-Cities. I was bored most the time as the ytraffic was that calm. Mind you, I'm used to driving around London!

I visited one particular winery twice. Once for the wine and again for the locally brewed beers...quality!

This was intended to be written as the musings of someone who is looking at moving to America and how suitable it would be based on my admittedly limited experience of the place. And yes, it was interesting...well I thought so anyway!

We still haven't been!
Good luck with your move and everything.

The first time the local office pointed me to stay in the Silver (something - dollar, nugget, whatever) hotel and casino - entirely full to the gills of fat, pallid, poorly-educated, addicts. The food was pile-it-high carbohydrate and the people couldn't walk 50 yds without needing to drop some more money in a one-arm-bandit (without checking, I suspected that the toilets had slot machines on the back of the stall doors so you could get your gambling fix whilst seated).
My trips are now pretty quick and I stay in a Hilton near the airport. I try to look on the bright side - I also have to go to Tucson and that is similarly unattractive and harder to get to (for me).

To be fair, I think you hit Reno on the head pretty-well. I have the misfortune to have to go there on occasion for work and it never fails to depress me.

The fact that your views haven't been knocked down yet probably prove it was interesting. Well done
I'm a bit jealous I haven't even visited the PNW yet
