Poor bugger if he or she is genuine and has a visa I think we just all apologise upfront

If not, NO, 2 weeks with Mickey Mouse does not justify a Visa to live in the US.

Barclays has a working relationship with Bank of America. Fees are not applied to ATM withdrawls for both banks' customers. I expect that transfers may be easier.

Often the cheapest way to transfer cash is just to take it out of the ATM on one card and put it straight back in on another. BOA ATM's allow you to deposit cash, which clears immediately - no need for an envelope, just post the cash into the ATM slot.

For a normal Barclays credit or debit card, You are generally restricted to withdrawing about 380 dollars per day depending on the exchange rate.
