US Tax accountant
 

Can anyone please recommend an accountant for US tax returns? The main challenge I'm facing is how to treat my wife's UK limited company. It's ceased trading at this point but is likely to have a few transactions this year. Will the online companies be able to assist with this? I'm in NY but don't mind if the accountant is located elsewhere.

What do you feel is the main challenge?
You may not really need an accountant but I do understand if you feel you do.

My main challenge is that I have UK rental income in 2018, that I need to put on my US tax return. ( Jan 2018 - Dec 2018 ).

Since this is my first year of being classified as a permanent resident in the US and the UK tax year runs on a different schedule I have paid HMRC taxes on that rental income for the UK tax year ( Apr 2017 - Apr 2018 ).

I am now struggling with what I tell the IRS I already paid in taxes to HMRC already so I'm not taxed twice.

What makes it more complex is because I was living in the US from October 2017 onwards, I got a tax refund from HMRC for overpaying through PAYE from my job in the UK earlier in the UK tax year ( Apr 2017 - Apr 2018 ).

You need to declare all UK sourced income as you probably know.

And have a look at this so that you can avoid double taxation.
