you are joking surely..........some of the defensive linemen are in there JUST to stop the run...they are the 350lb and up guys ......you will notice that say 3rd and 10 the big fat guy goes out.......on the other side the big offensive linemen are their mainly for their strength while the outside offensive linemen are normally around 260 and VERY athletic.......there are NOT many 350lb guys on any team........I guess unless you understand the game and how it's played then you just won't get it or perhaps just don't want to get it

Do these guys run around for the whiole game like Rugby players do? No..they sit on their fat arses eating twinkies for more than half the game. Good luck to anyone that enjoys that game...Personally, I think it probably the most over rated mind numbing boringly long game there is. This isn't a anti US thing either, I think it's just as much a sack of kack as Cricket is.
Different horses for different courses!!

I seriously wish I could "adapt' to liking it but if it was ever going to happen it would've happened by now and it hasn't.

do you understand the rules and how it's played ......if not then that is the key imo......I had to sit and force myself to watch about 6-8 games while steadily getting to grips with the rules and how the game is played.....watching defences and offences lining up and trying to figure out what they are going to do.........if you watch the pre game shows they have things in slow motion and you can see the tactics of how they make the plays

though have to say, the superbowl last year when the pats won was pretty cool, but then they were the "local" team, so everyone got into it around here *l*

Not really got into the American Football yet, but the atmosphere on Sundays down the local sports bar is pretty cool, they have about 7 screens with different games showing.
Not sure how many pubs back home could have that many different soccer fans in one venue just enjoying themselves!
Most American's do seem to appreciate the fact that Rugby is another game and respect the fact that there's basically no protection whats so ever.
