US Masters with a 2.2 UK Degree, Help!!

Re: US Masters with a 2.2 UK Degree, Help!!
Big Pharm has traditionally been a good field but it's suffered some downturn lately.
Quite often the fortunes can turn on getting approval for a narrow range of drugs.
(Me, I'm dying to go home to Scotland but my damn business is doing to well to leave...)

Oh I see, well at least your business is doing well.
Well Scotland might well become independent, you could always take a short holiday.

I fail to see why you are having problems, I applied to University last year and was admitted to two different universities with my undergraduate degree from the UK.
I have only read this post, if it has already been mentioned but you have to be more specific on the problem, I read this as just a general problem. Please state schools that you are looking at, evaluation takes some time but not that long.

I'm basically very stuck at finding a university that will accept my 2.2 UK degree as it without it getting evaluated. I just want to know if in fact it is possible to be accepted into a decent school. I am aware that the GRE is required, but don't don't want to fully commit to it if cannot see a possible goal. I'm a permanent resident, which why it makes it more frustrating.
Any advise would be helpful.
Thank you

Evaluations are done by the school one applies to, they most likely will ask for your transcripts. Either way it is a very simple process.

that is so odd.

You should ring Alex Salmond I am sure he would welcome some businesses coming to Scotland after the businesses saying they will leave over the last few days.

While studying you will see where your strengths or interests lie. If you do a full time program with a good uni they will have internships built in to the end of your 1st year and job placement at the end of the program. This is a big deal for schools as their rankings are based on these 2 things amongst other things. I have seen many MBAs go into consulting with technology firms and various other fields.
What I will tell you is getting into a group B uni ( the level below the ivy leagues) is still very competitive and gruesome. Expect interviews, sample paper requests etc. prior to admission and you will have to sell yourself as if you are not paying them to come to school . They are basically making sure that you have the drive and that you will check all the right boxes to add to their rankings.
It's a hustle but if you are going to pay the money you want a valuable product at the end of it. I also suggest speaking to a career advisor at the school before committing to the school.
I hope I have not completely discouraged you. It is worth it - I can attest to that as a person that worked in the MBA field and also has an MBA.
Good luck!

What great advice, well said and correctly detailed, yes an MBA is valuable and anyone who goes for it must be very dedicated to the work load and the out of the box thinking that it takes.
Great post!
Great post!
If you are not decided on a precise degree or career path I would highly recommend the MBA in the US. They treat it like gold. It covers most areas management, operations, marketing which can be applied to any job. I have seen many MBA candidates with 'science' undergrad degree come to get their MBAs.

I worked in both industries and yes the technology industry is much better, but I do see a worrying trend when it comes to age, this is more pronounced in the tech industry than Pharma.......
That's completely understandable, I've been guilty of that in the past several times. For me personally I would ideally prefer to work for a technology company as it does interest me. I also wouldn't mind working in the Pharmaceutical Field.
Granted I haven't thought this through completely, this application process is extremely tedious to start with.
Wow, that's an impressive CV to say the least.
Any advice would be gratefully received.

I got on to an accredited MBA program here in the States with my 2:1 from Liverpool Uni in Manufacturing Engineering. All I needed to show then was my transcript. They did not need it evaluated and I'm guessing any decent school in the states will be able to tell from where you went, what you studied and what grades you got if you are eligible for the program you are applying for.
Good luck in your studies. As a side not I much preferred the education experience here in the US than in the UK.
