Maybe US should contract the work out to HMRC. My experience with HMRC is they are more accessible, and the UK government websites are easier to user in any case.

An unholy alliance between big business and the apologists for the illegal aliens, which I guess you and I find equally abhorrent but for diametrically opposing reasons.

Those who complain about law and order concerning the undocumented immigrants should have equally strong opinions if not more about employers taking advantage in this area.

Those who make money off of employing undocumented workers aren't complaining and they are the ones that typically have the dollars and political influence to make sure that the rules remain gutless.

Pretty much. Here's how it's played out in Texas:

What many illegal immigrants pin their hopes and dreams on is amnesty. We have had several over the years and with a strong democratic government, we will have one again. As long as there is this hope and as long as the consequences are only that they receive a slap on the wrist, illegals will continue to cross the southern borders.

There are pros and cons to this debate. Their presence costs the American taxpayers money while giving financial gain to other Americans who exploit them.

The US, Canada, and even Mexico have immigration laws in place. Why have laws if they are not enforced.

You can express your dismay at the family torn apart and feel for the innocents who have to suffer because of a parent's past actions. At the same time, you can say it is just that this person pay for their past unlawful behavior. Yes, once they are taken out of the US, those cases presented above can seek return to the US lawfully. Unfortunately, the consequence is a ban that needs to be served before they qualify to return to the US as a spouse of a US Citizen.

If you mean Democratic with a "D" then remember that the last amnesty - in '86 - occurred when Reagan as president, the Republicans had a majority in the Senate and the Democrats a majority in the House.

Nope. That makes no logical sense whatsoever.

What it is,is an unholy alliance between big business and the lobbyists that they send to Washington to ghost write the laws that let them get away with their illegal activities. If it were not for this unholy alliance then there would be no need for the apologists for the illegal aliens.

Not only that, but civil servants who allow undocumented workers to enroll in benefit programs beyond those that are life-saving or emergency (like emergency food aid, shelter and health care), should also face sanction.

Isnt the current correct PC term undocumented immigrants rather than illegal aliens ?

You are quite correct it is an unholy alliance from many standpoints of business and their lobbyists colluding with hypocritical politicians which avoids the common sense measure of penalizing businesses more severely that employ undocumented immigrants.

I read somewhere of those in USA without proper authorization, over 40% overstayed their visas having arrived by plane rather than crossing the border.

I do get impression Democrat party would just as soon open the border completely but hesitate to outright advocate for that. Republican positon worse, calls to reduce number of undocumented immigrants but avoid completely more severe penalties on those that hire them. I am sick of the hypocritical stances of both parties on this as well as other issues.

I believe it's "undocumented aliens" and "illegal immigrants". The first term is preferred because, by definition, immigration is a legal process... so someone can't actually be an illegal immigrant.

The vast majority of Prospective Citizens, current preferred term, have documentation, just not legal immigration documentation.
