I also think that millions of people living out their retirement in poverty is nothing to "chuckle" about.
That's true and I apologize for my tone earlier. I know a lot people who want to come to the US and have good attitudes and will work hard and I got a little annoyed with the suggestion that the US is like a concentration camp or something. Of course there are things I don't like about America but slamming the country for things that happened generations ago is a low blow. And like I said it has nothing to do with the financial aspects which are indeed serious. There's a lot of valid things to complain about...but the genocidal pagan thing came out of left field!

Being in the South you tend to meet more religious people. I was asked by someone which church I attended (assumption being that everyone attends...). My reply was that being from England, I'm a Druid, but dont wear the outfit as it tends to get misunderstood in this part of the country.

They didn't get it.

Whatever meaning you use for pagan -I don't think the puritans where any of that especially with material goods. Cabritpop was leftfield with that one.

OK get your point.
Cabritpop said this country was founded on paganism. I would say a large lot where puritans but the initial laws / way of life (according to the history channel and what I was taught in school) and what the americans reinact at thanksgiving - were strict puritan - not paganism.

Paganism is not just on type of sect ..it really means beliefs and practices of natural or polytheistic religions.. so in truth the red indian who wordhipped the sun, moon, earth etc ... would be pagans ... or someone who worships something other than God .. the Islamic word is ..Mushrik...

So if the Native Americans wanted their land back and a sovereign state, and started a suicide bombing campaign, how would that differ from Palestine? Is it because the "stealing" happened in the 19th century vs the 20th?

Food for thought.

The main tasks of the Federal Reserve System are to:

* Supervise and regulate banks
* Implement monetary policy by open market operations, setting the discount rate, and setting the reserve ratio
* Maintain a strong payments system
* Control the amount of currency that is made and destroyed on a day to day basis (in conjunction with the Mint and Bureau of Engraving and Printing)

Other tasks include:

* Economic research
* Economic education

* Community outreach

I think this report is part of the research and education no?
Greenspan approved the tax cuts and war. Doesn't sound independent to me. I don't trust the Federal Reserve and appreciate the stability of the British pound.
