Legally, the United States cannot ask you to surrender the property of a foreign govt. so no.

The US has not required people obtaining US citizenship to physically renounce any other citizenship since 1979, although the power still exists in law, they just don't use it.

However, since 2006 the British Govt. has also had the power to revoke your UK citizenship if you have citizenship in another country, but it's only used in criminal cases and national security cases, e.g. Anna Chapman.

Renouncing UK citizenship comes at a cost, a bit of ballache and is something very few people will do, possibly for security clearance reasons only.
Common fallacy. It is perfectly okay to be a dual-national and hold a security clearance. The only clearance unobtainable by dual-nationals is Yankee White.

People keep saying this, what law would that be that restricts what the United States can or can not do within its own borders? Don't people have to surrender passports when on bail and the like?

Aye it is, but being a dual national also can prevent you from getting certain levels. It's more about ties to foreign countries than the actual citizenship that puts the spanner in the works though, so even renouncing might not be enough, but it can be shown as a sign of allegiance.

Daft as you get one do over from the Brits anyway

Only Yankee White. Common or garden Secret, Top Secret, SCI and SBBI and a bunch of others are all available to dual-nationals. Heck, you don't have to have citizenship to get a Secret.

Bail condition, you don't have to comply with a bail condition if you don't want, you can go to prison instead. Also, there is a difference between a temporary seizure in the interests of public safety and a permanent one. The fifth amendment applies.

When you go to the swearing in ceremony, they will ask you to bring and surrender your British passport. You do not have to do this - infact do not even show them you have it.

What? Ridiculous. The person who told you this is an idiot. You will NOT be asked to bring or surrender ANY foreign passport.

It was the ceremony and they asked you to hold up your passports and submit them - this was about 5 years ago and in Miami - maybe it was different where you did yours - why would I make that up?? Bollocks to you too
